Volunteers

Volunteers are the heart of our ministry with children and youth! Our volunteers are parents and non-parents, younger and older, experienced and inexperienced. If you love God and love our children, you are encouraged to volunteer! However, the physical and emotional safety of our children and youth is of extreme importance at Highlands. ALL Volunteers and staff members complete training and undergo a national background screening. If you would like more information on how you can be a part of our ministry to children and youth, please contact the church office

Children's Ministries

Children and youth are a vital part of our church family at Highlands. With each baptism, our congregation promises to walk alongside parents as they work together in the Christian Nurture of that child. From the earliest ages, our children are invited and welcomed into worship and to be full participants in the life of the church.

Nursery

Our ministry to children starts with the nurture of our youngest members in the Nursery. Childcare for ages 8 weeks through age 3 is available on Sunday mornings during Sunday School and worship, as well as during most other special worship services or church events. Ms. Eileen has faithfully loved the children of Highlands for more than twenty years, and during the week, she teaches the toddlers at Highlands Precious Gifts Preschool. The Nursery can be found in the Family Life Center, Room 208.

Sunday School

Sunday School is a wonderful time for ALL ages to learn about God's love. Our youngest children are lead in Bible stories and songs during their time in the nursery with Ms. Eileen.  Our Elementary children are engaged in play-based learning as they build their Biblical literacy. Our Middle and High School age youth are diving deeper into our Biblical Ancestors of the Old and New Testament through engaging videos and discussion.  We don't want to leave parents out either! Check out the "Adult" page for more information about ways that parents can join other adults in study.

L.I.F.T (Living in Faith Together)

L.I.F.T. is an intergenerational ministry that meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month from September through May. Children and youth experience what it means to live as a child of God and to develop relationships with Christian adults. L.I.F.T. is filled with fun and fellowship through Bible study, music, and play.

Vacation Bible School

Summer is all about fun, relaxation, and friendship! Each summer our community's children are invited to join us for a week of fun at Vacation Bible School. Check out these pictures from VBS 2019!
